This is the build tree for kernel-image.debs for hppa. The hppa kernel
source is not yet in sync with Linus' tree, so is kept in the projects
cvs repository at <http://www.parisc-linux.org>.

This package contains a full source tree from that cvs. Convention is
that any changes to the cvs source also increment a -paNN EXTRAVERSION
on the top level kernel Makefile. In order that the kernel-image deb
name does not change too often, that EXTRAVERSION is removed from the
Makefile here, and recorded in file linux-EXTRAVERSION.

To update the cvs source, you should run 'debian/rules cvs-update'.

Before building a new set of kernel images, you need to update the
changelog and (possibly) control files to reflect the new package version.
The recommended version naming scheme is to use

	<EXTRAVERSION digits>.<Debian sequence number>

so, if linux-EXTRAVERSION contains '-pa61', you might use

	61.1

By having the package name encode the upstream kernel version number, we allow,
for example, a 2.4.9 and a 2.4.14 to be installed at the same time. Having
the first part of the version match the EXTRAVERSION number from CVS helps us
keep track of what is what. If you needed to roll the packaging without any
changes to CVS, the version would become "61.2", and so forth.

BEWARE: As the hppa port includes 32 and 64 bit kernels, you need a
32 to 64 bit hppa cross compiler installed in order to build 64 bit
kernels. This package will warn you and build only 32 bit kernels
if that is not the case. The cross compiler may not yet be available
in the debian archive, and if so an unofficial package must be installed
from <http://ftp.parisc-linux.org/unofficial-debs/>.
